Quantity of Plants?

To
distinguish between commercial and domestic growers, governments usually impose a maximum
number of plants allowed per person. There is some controversy around the exact number of
plants that should be allowed. South Australia have just reduced their limit from 10 to 3
plants because hydroponic growers can grow up to five crops a yearpotentially a
commercial crop.
Taking into account males (about 50%, which are traditionally pulled out) and failures, ten outdoor plants should provide enough pot for a year for an average smokeronce theyve learned how to keep a garden! Supplying your own outdoor pot is far preferable to buying from the black market, where there is access to all kinds of dangerous drugs, or smoking hydroponically grown pot full of chemicals and fungicides. The Hemp Embassy recommends that ten plants for outdoor and three plants for indoor (hydroponic) would effectively separate domestic and commercial growers. We have the opportunity now to start taking cannabis out of the black market. The pressure this will relieve from our society cannot be overestimated. Eventually, the issue must be raised of supplying cannabis under license as alcohol presently is. We should look at the Amsterdam cannabis cafes and the Californian medicinal cannabis example. Links between organised crime and cannabis would be further broken and users would know what THC content they are getting. Revenue raised can be channeled into counselling and support services. Police resources can focus on organised crime and big dealers. After prohibition has been repealed, we may be able to look at the situation more sensibly. The best working model we have at the moment is alcohol. You can buy your alcohol from the hotel (or the supermarket, or the bottleshop, etc) or you can brew your own at home in the garage. There are no restrictions on the quantity or strength of the beer you brew, provided you do not sell it. This may help as a model for home-growing cannabis too, encouraging healthier open-air growing rather than hydroponic production. |
