NorthPower Community Enterprise Centre
 | The NorthPower Community Enterprise Centre has finally been able to make
their building available to the Byron community. On December the 6th at a gathering in their old power site in Mullumbimby, a symbolic key was
passed to the Mayor Cr Tom Wilson. The site is the old NorthPower building in Gordon Street - which was handed
over to Northern Rivers County Council (NRCC) for $1.00 in 1980 being the old Mullumbimby Council. NRCC was later corporatised and is now NorthPower.
With the building surplus to requirements, NorthPower put it up for auction last May, but called the auction off after an approach from Byron shire
Council. The Council accepts custodianship over the property, and will pay a lease of
$1pa. The next step is form a committee under the 355 statutory arrangement.
|
 | All those wishing to participate should contact the Council and make their submissions. Interest to date has come from a range of community
organisations including ACE Mullumbimby, Byron/Mullum LETS, Rotary, Lions, Bay AMI and others.'
|
 | A permanent display of NorthPower's activities will be housed in the Centre. |
