Rainbow Region Organic Markets. We have set up a growers market at the Lismore showgrounds every Wednesday morning 7 - 10am. We are starting slowly but the first market was greeted with such enthusiasm that growers went home and immediately boosted both range and quantity of produce. We are predicting that by the end of February we will have 50 or more stalls with a huge range of produce . We are encouraging shops and restaurants and bulk buyers but we also serve the public. This is a regional attempt to be more connected and encourage more local production. http://www.nor.com.au/community/organic/ Deep Ecology facilitators. GLOBAL TO LOCAL is a Lismore-based coalition of interested citizens, loosely coordinated through the Rainforest Information Centre (but also linked to the Australia Connects movement of a similar name) who are interested in a long term campaign of increasing local community economic literacy in relation to globalisation. In particular we aim to highlight the role that globalisation trends have in undermining local economies, and to promote the development of robust local economy through informed business, consumer and community decision-making. Contact Valerie Thompson on 6645 3933 valthomo@hotmail.com or Ruth Rosenhek of the Rainforest Information Centre at Rrosenhek@aol.com
